FIJET Academy of Young Journalists was organized by FIJET World Asocciation in Izmir, Turkey lead by the President Tijani Haddidi. The Academy hosted two graduate students of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management- Ema Čanković and Ema Petaković. The gathering was attended by 12 participants from Morocco, Tunisia, France, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, England, and Croatia.

The Academy was organized in the period from 12th to 19th of August, 2018. As part of the Program, the participants had the opportunity to visit the most important cultural and historical sights and tourist attractions of the city of Izmir and its surroundings. Additionally, the educational part of the Program was held at Yaşar University, including lectures by the members of the FIJET Organization: prof. Gabriela Tiga, prof. dr. Recep Merić, prof. Ludmil Novacka, and Mike Black. Considering the main topic of the meeting, a visit to the newspapers "Dokuz Eylül Gazetesi" was organized, where the participants discussed with the main editor the present opportunities, possibilities, and problems encountered by journalism, and the importance of journalism for development of destination tourism.
