Head of the Institute:

Katarina Poldrugovac, Ph.D., Assistant professor

The Institute of Accounting consists of only one department - the Accounting Department. The institute of accounting is significant for every business administration study programme and a certain number of accounting courses is offered by every existing tourism and hospitality management study programme.

This is especially important in the process of implementing the Bologna process, since it ensures that students will be able to acquire ECTS credits that are transferrable to higher education institutions abroad. Accounting courses at the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management are fully adapted to the demands of the global hotel industry, which means that this department offers the possibility to acquire knowledge that meets the requirements on a national and global level.

Both the institute and the department focus on conducting teaching, scientific and professional activities. Each department member specializes to be able to contribute to these areas, and particular emphasis is put on acquiring the ability to develop projects that are significant to the tourism and hospitality industry.

The future of the institute and the department should be based on the foundations and positive experiences of its historical development. Special emphasis needs to be placed on the specialization of each member of the institute/department, in order to be able to cover all specific areas of this field of the accounting reseach branch. In terms of interdepartmental cooperation, it primarily refers to departments/institutes that deal with microeconomic disciplines, as well as those that are directed towards the more narrow area of hospitality and tourism processes.
