The department unifies two significant areas of work:
- Hospitality – analyzes global trends on the turbulent, dynamic 21st century market. The special area of interest is increasing the quality and competitiveness from the perspective of entrepreneurship and hotel sector management.
- Gastronomy and restaurant business – by following modern trends in this area it places emphasis on shaping the food and beverage offer in response to the needs and demands of the tourism market.
Taking into account the study programme curriculi and that the name of the faculty is the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, the Department of Hospitality, Gastronomy and Restaurant Business, as a part of the Institute of Hospitality, represents one of the faculty's key departments. Furthermore, by cooperating with other institutions, economic entities, associations, communities and unions, the department promotes one of the fundamental activities of the faculty, which is directly linked to the tourism and hospitality profession.
All members of the department strive to promote the key content from their area by publishing numerous textbooks, scientific and professional papers as well as by holding lectures for members of the tourism and hospitality industry.
