The core activities of the Department are related to the teaching, scientific and professional activities of the department members. As part of their research and scientific interests, the members of the Department have participated in the realization of  two  scientific projects for the  Ministry of Science and Education - Business performance management in the Croatian hotel industry (project code 0116001) and  Quality and business excellence models and standards for the hotel industry (project code 116-1162459-2458) and two scientific projects of the FTHM with funding from the University of Rijeka Absenteeism and work productivity in the hotel industry (project code ZP UNIRI 3/16) and  Glamping – a factor of campsite quality (project code ZP UNIRI 5/17).

In the field of their scientific interests and activities, members of the Department also act as      reviewers of scientific papers for the needs of scientific journals and conferences and participate in their works in domestic and international professional and scientific conferences.
