Teaching activity encompasses the teaching obligations of the members of the Department at the regular study program (undergraduate and professional studies) in Opatija and the part-time study program (undergraduate and professional studies) in Opatija and Zabok.
Scientific activity is based on the participation of members of the Department in scientific research projects, publishing of scientific and professional papers, active participation at international and domestic scientific and professional conferences, and publication of university textbooks.
The significance of the Department is derived from the field of action itself. As part of the course, all key areas relevant to the application of information technology in the daily business of future tourist workers (now students) are connected. The research results of the members of the Department should contribute to Croatia's qualitative response to ever-faster technological change dictated by development. Croatia's accession to the European Union is a key process and a prerequisite for qualitative changes in all segments of business and affirmation of a knowledge-based value system (knowledge society) in the function of achieving the competitiveness of the Croatian economy, tourism and individual economic enterprises. The Department should strive to interact with other Departments inside and outside the Institute in order to better educate future managers and implement them in practice.
