The study programme Tourism Management is designed according to the trends in the tourist market and to the determinants of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). Special emphasis is placed on the selective forms of tourism and their role on global scale, as well as on the development and role of tourism in the world economy. Special importance is given to the harmonization of teaching contents and the new tourism policy, with the aim of creating the basis for securing the competitive edge for the offer of tourist destinations in line with world trends.

Aim of the study programme

The aim of the study programme is to train students to perform managerial activities in managing a tourist destination, events and leisure time.

Competences acquired upon study completion

  • Knowledge command in the field of tourism and management in tourism;
  • Ability to investigate trends and promotion of business models in tourism.
  • Ability to manage a tourist destination by involving all participants in the tourist offer;
  • Self-management of business processes in the tourist destination;
  • Ability to monitor and apply legislation and standards in tourism business;
  • Ability to apply information and communication technology in business;
  • Taking over the team and personal responsibility for creating the project proposal and realizing the project idea.
  • Ability to monitor and evaluate key indicators in tourism business.

Upon completion of this study programme, students will develop general competences such as the ability of abstract thinking, critical thinking, generating new ideas, identifying and solving problems, planning and managing time, continuous learning, work independence, and other skills.

Employment opportunities

The undergraduate study programme is designed to provide relevant knowledge for performing managerial jobs on the highest level in tourism sector, which in contemporary  conditions has to be developed in accordance with the trends of tourism development.

In this way, the masters of economics will be able to take significant positions in tourist boards, tourist organizations, tourist agencies, tourist associations, in education, communal systems, media, all selective forms of tourist offer, accompanying industries, financial institutions, accounting and control services, inspection services and their accompanying offices where specific knowledge in the field of tourism is required.
