This event aims to bring together students, teaching and training staff from our faculty and partner institutions in order to strengthen international networks and exchange ideas. It will enhance international collaboration providing the participants an opportunity to meet and present their research within any topic related to economy, business and tourism.

We are using this opportunity to invite all the participants to the 25th Biennial International Congress “TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY: TRENDS AND CHALLENGES” hosted by the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, University of Rijeka which will be held in the city of Opatija from 4th to 6th May 2020. Since tourism and hospitality industry cross over and take part in multiple areas and disciplines, authors are welcome to submit a paper from a diverse range of topics, perspectives and disciplines. We are looking forward to welcoming scientists and researchers to the city of Opatija from May 4 - 6, 2020 for the 25th Biennial International Congress Tourism & Hospitality Industry, hosted by The Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management in Opatija, University of Rijeka.
THI2020 is a multidisciplinary congress with a long tradition bringing together policymakers, industry and academics to lay the groundwork and identify innovative solutions for the development of tourism. The aim is to promote a collaborative environment between the academic and tourism community in search of improvement and attractiveness of tourism business. Tourism and the hotel industry are simultaneously very delicate and flexible parts of national and worldwide economic systems. Plurality of social, economic, technological, natural, political and other changes have huge effect on their adaptation and development. Consequently, the working title of our congress includes variety of aspects to be discussed: TRENDS AND CHALLENGES. We invite scientists and researchers to share their newest research, results and ideas with us and their fellow researchers and practitioners. Abstract submission deadline has been extended until February 3, 2020.
Within this congress we announce the presentations on best practices and innovations as well as panel discussions held by distinguished Croatian hoteliers and tourism professionals that will be included in a special part named A Hotel house (Hotelska kuća). This year, essential part of our A Hotel house is given to the inclusion of a direct dialogue with Croatian hoteliers and it will represent a symbiosis of science and profession through examples of good practice.
International teaching and administrative staff are invited for the purpose of teaching/training through Erasmus+, CEEPUS and other mobility programs to take part at International week at FTHM to be held from May 4-8, 2020 in Opatija. Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management is a highly respected institution of higher education for tourism, hospitality industry and sustainable development in the Republic of Croatia and in the wider region. One of the things we’re most proud of is the fact that in the winter semester of 2019/2020 academic year, our Faculty hosts the largest number of international students of the whole University, 39 of them.
