Visit of the delegation of the Albanian city of Saranda and the Ambassador of Albania

On 6.4.2022, the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management was visited by the Ambassador of Albania to the Republic of Croatia, HE Rize Pode, the Honorary Consul of Albania in Rijeka Bashkim Enesi, Ermina Lekaj Prljaskaj, Member of the Albanian, Bosniak, Montenegrin, Macedonian and Slovenian national minorities in the Croatian Parliament, the President of the Albanian National Minority Council in Ghana Xharrahi and a delegation from the Albanian city of Saranda led by Mayor Adrian Gourmet. Saranda is a well-known Albanian tourist destination in close proximity to Greece. During the visit to the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, they discussed possible cooperation in the training of tourism and hospitality personnel and the exchange of students and teachers, with special attention to the fact that the city of Opatija and Saranda are very similar tourist destinations and need trained staff in tourism and hospitality.

The final conference of the three-year project "Excellence and Efficiency in Higher Education in the Field of Economics - E4" was held at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Split. The Faculty of Economics of the University of Rijeka, the Faculty of Economics of the University of Zagreb, the Faculty of Economics of the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, the University of Zadar, the University of Dubrovnik and the Juraj Dobrila University of Pula also participated in the project as partners.

Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management Professor Sandra Janković and Tatjana Skoko, Director of Microsoft Croatia, signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Opatija. The Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management has agreed to collaborate with Microsoft, which will enable FTHM students to acquire digital skills crucial for their future employment. The Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management will promote Microsoft's Digital Skills Initiative, which will enable the academic network to acquire the most sought-after skills and be ready for the most attractive jobs in the world, such as digital marketing specialist, financial analyst, data analyst or graphic designer.
FTHM, the Italian Secondary School in Rijeka and the Kvarner County Tourist Board celebrated the International Day of Education

On January 24, 2022, the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management in Opatija, together with the Italian Secondary School in Rijeka and the Kvarner County Tourist Board celebrated the International Day of Education under the motto "Transformation of Education". As stated in the recent global report "Futures of Education" from UNESCO, the transformation of the future requires the establishment of interrelationships between education, nature and technology that permeate our lives and provide opportunities for a deeper knowledge of sustainable development.
Josipa Cvelić Bonifačić, Ph.D. elected to the ADAC Hall of Fame

On Friday, January 14, the traditional ADAC CAMPING GALA, often referred to as the "Camping Oscar," was held in Stuttgart, Germany, where the most important European camping awards are presented.
In addition to the awards for camps in several categories, the highlight of the ceremony was the election to the ADAC Hall of Fame: for the first time a person from Croatia was elected to the Hall of Fame, Assistant Professor Josipa Cvelić Bonifačić, Ph.D. from the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management in Opatija.
Uwe Frers, CEO of PINCAMPA said that the award is given for Josipa Cvelić Bonifačić's leading role in modernizing the Croatian camping industry and her contribution to the development of education about the camping industry in higher education.
