Youth Planet at FTHM for Earth Day

The Eco-Committee of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management and the local information centre of Žmergo sent strong messages regarding climate change before Earth Day with an interesting "Planet Earth" photo.
Cool the Earth, not the apartment!, Reduce carbon footprint, increase responsibility!, All for one, Earth for all!, Planet before profit!, Change yourself, not the climate! Time is melting! Let us raise our voice, not the temperature!, are just some of the messages of the activity before Earth Day, carried out by students of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management with the help of Žmergo's local youth information centre.
A new generation of professional tour guides received their licences

The 25-year tradition of the Lifelong Learning Programme Seminar for Tour Guides at the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management continued in the academic year 2022/2023.
Since 1997, the quality of the lectures and practical experience have shaped the training of tour guides. Professors from the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, the Faculty of Philosophy in Rijeka, the Ministry of Tourism, UHPA (Association of Croatian Travel Agencies), the Association of Tourist Guides and others are involved in the implementation of the programme.
This seminar remains the hallmark of our Faculty's lifelong accredited programme, which is updated with additional content to follow market trends. This year, 23 participants successfully completed the programme and received a licence. They had the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a field course under the guidance of long-time tour guide Nikola Špehar.
A celebratory event took place on 30 March 2023 at 16:00 in the premises of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management. The event included a social gathering and an address by Assistant Professor Romana Lekić, Ph.D., who highlighted the importance of the tour guide's role as ambassador, information provider, knowledge source, mentor, teacher, host and motivator.
After the official part, participants and guests were able to meet with the Faculty's Vice- Dean for Business Relations, Associate Professor Elena Rudan, Ph.D., the Head of the Seminar Tourist Guide programme Alenka Šuljić Petrc, Ph.D., and Programme Secretary Jasna Lasinger Silađev, mag.oec.
Professor Marko Perić, Ph.D. was elected as the new Dean of the Faculty

At the 44th meeting of the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, University of Rijeka, held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, Professor Marko Perić, Ph.D. was elected as the new Dean of the Faculty. Professor Marko Perić, Ph.D. was elected for the term from October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2026 and will replace Professor Sandra Janković, Ph.D., whose term is expiring.
Welcome day - summer semester 2023

On March 6th, a welcome day was held at @FMTU for visiting students of the Erasmus + and YUFE mobility programs, where students were presented with information about their studies as well as life at the faculty and university.
Students had the opportunity to get to know each other, as well as the work of the Center for International Affairs, and there was an open discussion on numerous issues related to the activities that follow during the semester.
This semester we hosted students from Spain, Germany, Poland, Latvia, Slovenia, Romania, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Macedonia, Slovakia, Finland, Great Britain, Greece, Lithuania and Italy.
We wish all students a successful semester!
Awards for scientific excellence

The Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Prof Sandra Janković, Ph.D., presented awards to employees with outstanding scientific contributions in 2022 at a meeting of the Faculty Council on February 15, 2023.
In the category of employees with both scientific and teaching titles, awards were given to Prof Greta Krešić, Ph.D., Prof Marko Perić, Ph.D. and Assistant Prof Jelena Đurkin Badurina.
Awards for scientific excellence in the category of teaching and associate positions were given to Nikolina Liović, Ph.D., Marina Barkiđija Sotošek, Ph.D. and Tanja Fatur Šikić, Ph.D.
