ToSEE 2023: The excellence of knowledge combined with the unique experience

At the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, the 7th international scientific conference ToSee 2023, was held from May 25 until May 27, 2023. The central theme of this conference edition was "Engagement & Empowerment: a Path Toward Sustainable Tourism."
The conference encourages scientific work and advocates the application of achieved results and new knowledge, through which the Faculty contributes to the discussion at the global level on current topics related to sustainable tourism development. For this reason, the ToSEE 2023 conference represents a multidisciplinary platform that connects the academic community with destination managers, the public sector, students, and experts from practice. The importance of the conference was also recognized by the UNWTO, which included TOSEE 2023 in its calendar of events.
The opening of the conference was held on May 25, 2023. at the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Opatija, with welcome speeches by the Dean Sandra Janković, the Conference Program Committee Chair Lorena Bašan, the Rector Snježana Prijić Samaržija and the Representative of UNWTO Margarita Zaera Espinos.
International week at the Institute for Management 2023

Institute for Management of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, University of Rijeka organized the “International week at the Institute for Management 2023” that took place in Opatija, Croatia, between 22–26 May, 2023. The purpose of the international week was to enhance and intensify the international collaboration primarily among researchers and professors in the field of management, organization and entrepreneurship.
Kristina Črnjar, PhD, Full Professor, as a Head of the Institute, together with Marko Perić, PhD, Full Professor, as a Vice Dean for International Affairs, addressed more than 25 international academic and non-academic staff, members of the Institute and students engaged in the projects and activities. After the presentation of the key points on internationalization Simona Šarotar Žižek, PhD, Full Professor and Head of Institute for management and organization, University of Maribor (Slovenia), currently spending her long time mobility at the Institute, held a lecture titled “HRM challenges and answers in the light of sustainability and responsibility” after which a discussion took place among participants.
International Week At The Institute For Management

In the period from 22 to 26 May 2023. INTERNATIONAL WEEK AT THE INSTITUTE FOR MANAGEMENT will take place at the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management.
In addition to the members of the Institute of Management, more than 25 foreign partners, staff and administrative staff will participate in the International Week. The list of participants is included in the programme.
The opening of the International Week will take place on Tuesday 23 May 2023. The lectures by the foreign professors are open to all faculty members.
Europe Day was celebrated with the event "EU projects - as a career choice?"

In cooperation with the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management of the University of Rijeka, the Regional Development Agency of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County celebrated Europe Day on 9 May 2023 with the thematic event "EU projects - my career choice?"
Srđana Kerčević, senior expert associate for the preparation and implementation of strategic and development documents and programmes of the Regional Development Agency of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, presented professional development opportunities for young people through EU projects, especially in the context of preparing development projects in tourism.
The answer to the question of how EU projects are implemented and how EU projects can help in professional development was given by Nevenka Kos, senior specialist for the preparation and implementation of EU projects from the Regional Development Agency of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, through the presentation of the EU project "Career Garden - building bridges between educational institutions and companies through remote and hybrid practise" (https://www.careergarden.eu/), which will introduce innovative methods for the implementation of practical classes as well as provide new educational content to improve practises in the field of vocational education.
The Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management runs many projects funded by the European Union. The Europe Day celebration was a unique opportunity to learn about the EU projects currently being implemented at the Faculty.
